Every person is worthy and deserving of having access to real food and education in preparing and growing their own food. No one is well until we are all well.

Fed by the Sun is a workplace with a striving foundation towards diversity, inclusion, and equity. We hope every employee and client, despite their race, age, disabilities, immigration status, gender, sexual orientation, religion, feels valued, worthy, and respected.

There are many healthcare disparities within the Black, Indigenous, and People of Culture Communities. Much of this is due to centuries of trauma, systematic racism, and the white supremacy culture we live in. Black communities, both rural and urban, are more likely to experience food insecurity.

Of the 3.4 million farmers in the United States today, only 45,000 are Black*. Black farmers and business owners have less access to government support and loans.

Fed by the Sun will continually work towards a greater understanding of best practices to promote inclusivity and greater food access to all people, with particular awareness towards the Black, Indigenous, and People of Culture Communities.

We acknowledge the original people of the land and honor the tribes of Clackamas, Cowlitz, Confederated Tribes of Grande Rhone, and Cascades.

To actively work towards these commitments. I pledge to:

  • Continue Anti-racism education with Empress Rules and offering more training to future employees.

  • Welcome feedback from colleagues, clients, and their communities who reflect that more work needs to be taken.

  • Commit to supporting BIPOC farmers and food businesses financially. And also promote these businesses to our clients and community. Taking a bi-yearly audit of where I am purchasing food and supplies and work towards spending a greater percentage from BIPOC Suppliers and Farmers.
